About us

Built on a real forecourt, not in a boardroom.

LitreIQ grew out of a working fuel station in Lenyenye, Limpopo. It is the first "IQ" product from Blue Oceans Approach (Pty) Ltd, and it exists to help South African station owners know where every litre and every rand goes.

Who we are

LitreIQ is a product of Blue Oceans Approach (Pty) Ltd, a South African company registered with CIPC under number 2019/629537/07. Blue Oceans builds practical intelligence tools for owner-run businesses, and LitreIQ is the first product in its "IQ" family: software that reads the reports a business already produces, finds where money is leaking and tells the owner what to do about it.

Where it started

The idea did not come from a slide deck. It came from a forecourt in Lenyenye, Limpopo, where our own convenience shop, Samwell On The Go, trades alongside the fuel business. Running a site like that means living with the same problems every dealer knows: card batches that do not land when they should, fleet amounts nobody has claimed, tank figures that do not quite match the pumps, contractors who take weeks to fix a pump, and month-end surprises that arrive far too late to act on.

The owner was not on site every shift. The information existed, spread across back office reports, card machine exports, bank statements, fleet settlement files and a busy WhatsApp group, but nobody had time to put it together every day. So we started doing exactly that, first by hand, then with software. Over time that work became LitreIQ, shaped between Limpopo and Gauteng by people who have actually had to balance a forecourt.

What the pilot showed

At one pilot site we reconciled card money daily for six days. In that period LitreIQ matched R408,894.95 in card sales across 905 transactions, every day, rather than waiting for month-end. That is a small sample from one site, and we present it as exactly that: proof that daily reconciliation works on real forecourt data, not a promise of what any other site will find.

The principles we build on

Read-only first

LitreIQ reads the reports and files you already receive. It never changes settings on your pumps, tank gauges, tills or card terminals, and it never touches hazardous-area equipment.

Your data stays in South Africa

Your business data, connection details and logs are kept on our own infrastructure in Cape Town. We do not send client data to offshore services. Read how we protect it.

Investigation, not accusation

A discrepancy opens a case, never a charge against a person. Every case lists the innocent causes first, such as temperature, calibration, timing or a legitimate refund, so you can decide fairly.

Amounts you can audit

Every Rand figure is calculated by fixed, repeatable rules that you can trace back to the source file. AI helps explain and prioritise cases. It never invents an amount.

Out of the money flow

LitreIQ does not process payments, route money or hold card numbers. Where a report includes card digits, we only ever see the masked version.

Plain language

You should not need an IT department to understand your own station. Alerts say what happened, what it may cost and what to do next.

How we work with you

You remain in charge of your business data. Under POPIA you are the responsible party, and Blue Oceans Approach acts as your operator under a written operator agreement. You can ask for your data to be exported at any time, and if you leave, we export it on request and then delete it within 30 days.

Talk to us

We do not publish a street address. The quickest way to reach us is by e-mail at hello@litreiq.com, or by booking a short demo. If you would rather see it on your own numbers first, start a free 14-day trial on one site.
